This piece was a painful yet liberating thing to paint. It is the symbol of my departure on a 3-month backpacking trip I call my "writing expedition." I finished it the week I left. This trip required me to leave my partner, my dog, and everything I thought to be my safety and home. The woman is shooting her Freedom Bow straight through her heart to reach the stars, a place where she knows she must follow, for she herself is made of them. May we all be healed by the light of our purpose.
